Course Objective |
The aim of this course is to allow the students to rotate in different laboratories related with the MSc programme in molecular medicine in a multidisciplinary perpective, to learn about the different research methods and techniques used in research laboratory and to acquire practical knowledge in this area. Basic methods learned are as follows: principles of weighing, homogenization techniques, solution preparation, measurement of pH, centrifugation techniques, spectrophotometry, cell culture, gel electrophoresis (agarose, SDS), westernblotting, genomic DNA and total RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, conventional and real-time PCR, spectrofluorometry, microbiological methods. |

The course will be organised as rotations in different labs. There will be short presentations from the instructors on the different methods. Each course will be evaluated by post- test. The students will prepare a laboratory notebook involving the information learned and processed. |
