Course Objective

There are rare examples of Calligraphy on wooden and stone surfaces, where the most beautiful examples of calligraphy are given. The content of this course, which examines the texts and types of texts used on these examples, and the purpose of the works, the ability to make new designs and applications with current production techniques as well as historical studies of production techniques.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to classify and define the wood and natural stone material types
2   To be able to comprehend the correlation of material and form
3   To be able to choose the technique and the basic equipment related to wood and natural stone material
4   To be able to apply the basic techniques used in shaping the wood and natural stone material
5   To be able to adapt the techniques he/she learned to the whole of the production process

1 Introduction of safety equipment and workshop order. Show and identification examples of wood materials and technical literature. Show examples of sculptures made of wood material, detailed description of the design principles. Description of the exercise work and information about obtaining the material
2 Show and identification examples of stone materials and technical literature.Show examples of sculptures made of stone material, detailed description of the design principles. Description of the exercise work and information about obtaining the material
3 Examination and control of materials taken by the students. Demonstration of the use of hand tools and other technical hardwares. Start training practices

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Vocational high school level books containing basic information on the subject, the student is guaranteed to be the general idea of the terminology and techniques.
Making technical and form analysis on the samples sculptures that sculpted stone and stone materials.
Examining the materials with the samples and identified their properties.
After the choosing and acquiring the materials, students applies technics on their projects.
Applications are monitored during the student's work and directed to conclusion.
Students at the end of the period, are delivered by a practice both the wood and the stone materials .

Course Policies and Rules

Applications with the material will be done by the student in the lesson workshop.
The student will document the health problems at a level that does not result in a valid report at the beginning of the term.
Disciplinary punishment is applied in the behaviors that disrupt the workshop and working order.
The provisions of the faculty examination regulations are essential for the evaluation of the studies with delayed delivery.
Each student will acquire the specified materials and hand tools.
