Course Objective |
The aim of this course is to introduce the students to an analysis of the concepts of democracy, democratization and democratic consolidation. The first part of the course will first concentrate on the concepts of democracy in depth and then second part will examine the democratic transitions and their reversals in the world. The third and last part of the course will focus on the factors such as the state, political parties, civil society, civil-military relations, socio-economic factors and external actors that have an impact on democratic consolidation by concentrating on case studies. |
