Course Objective

To increase performance properties of textiles and also to increase these properties by finishing methods,to teach usage area,to establish connections between design and fashion , to inform them about current developments .

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   define and classify finishings.
2   define special performance adding finishings.
3   determine properties of a designed textile depending on its usage area.
4   select finishing processes for a designed textile depending on its usage area.
5   establish connections among the concepts of finishings,fashion,design and quality,to define and apply the latest technology and practices.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 General evaluation of textile finishings, their content, purpose and importance,and evaluation from the view point of design.
2 Quality and performance properties of textiles, high performance textiles, current technologies and practices.
3 Application of microcapsulation tehnology in finishings and usage areas
4 Water/oil/soil repellent textiles,,water proof breatable textiles and usage areas
5 Textiles with anti-wrinkle properties.
6 Thermochromic and photochromic textiles
7 Phase changing materials, heat and light sensitive textiles
8 Cosmetic,anti-aging textiles, insect repellent textiles
9 Antibacterial/antimicrobial textiles
10 Biomimetic textiles
11 UV and sun rays protective textiles
12 Coated and laminated fabrics
13 Protective textiles,/non-flammable, radiation proof textiles
14 High performance textiles developed by nanotechnological finishings.
