Course Objective

Determination of the economical and cultural problems in the turkish cinema, and the examination by comparison of turkish cinema's examples with the world's important cinema examples.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The evaluation of the economical historical and social condition's change effects in the after 1990's Turkish cinema.
2   The recognition of the economical variable conditions in today's turkish cinema, the evaluation with a cultural perspective of the social society and the cinema. And the capacity of comparing them with others examples on world's cinema.
3   The evaluation and determination in a cultural and economical way of today's Türkiye and Iran's cinema.
4   Investigating what should be done related to the positive reflections of the economical and cultural problems of the turkish and iranian cinema.
5   To study and evaluate yhe socail,cultural and economic problems of Turkish Society and Iranian Cinema.
6   Changing producer profile will be discussed with important names from the industry

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 After 1990, evaluation of the reflections of the change of economic, historical and social conditions on the cinema in Türkiye
2 In addition to the research on the funding of the Ministry of Culture, guests will be invited.
3 Important names from the sector who have worked on the Eurimages fund and Turkish cinema are invited to the lecture.
4 Festivals, festivals in the world and in Türkiye, and especially the funds that recent festivals have contributed to our cinema will be discussed with expert guests.
5 Changing producer profile will be discussed with important names from the industry
6 The equivalent of the concept of producer director in the sector and the views of recent directors on the subject

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. The students should come to the class with a preresearch on the library or on the website of others universities that already studied a similar subject. They should initially debat with each other exchanging opinions about the course subject and should consider the classe s opinion.
2. With the participations of all the students to the class and seminers they have the opportunity of exchanging knowledge and ideas witch will help them accessing informations about the subject more rapidly.
3. Materials concerning the course such as movies music books.. are available to access for the students in order to help them getting right results.
4. Experts will be invited to the lectures and the seminar topics we are working on will be discussed with our guests.

The aim is to review the previously acquired knowledge within the framework of the new information presented, to determine whether creative, free and systematic thought synthesis can be made and to push it to move in this direction, and also to discuss the problems of the sector with competent people at first hand.
