Course Objective

In this courses, the basics of cinematic visual design will be discussed through films. Firstly, the categorization of cinematography, editing, mise-en-scene, sound, and narrative will be explained and then the aesthetics bases of cinema will be explored through perception, conception, and contextualization. In addition, the basic traits of film design will be detailed by touching on light, color, composition, area, screen, depth, volume, effects, visualization, time, movement, sound, sound and image relationship, and different editing styles.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this courses, students will be expected to have a knowledge of the following: 1. Visual design of films, 2. aesthetic dimensions, 3. cinematography, editing, mise-en-scene, sound and narrative, and 4. temporal and spatial film design.
