Course Objective

To acknowledge the Students of Composition and Orchestral Conductor of the Art Dept. about the Main variaties of Turkish Folk Music, its methods, aspects and the structure of melody, also to highlight about using it as a tool and to apply it during the composing process.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To comprehend the melodical structure of the traditional folk music.
2   To be able to provide the necessary rythm of this type of music.
3   Being able to correctly define the form.
4   Important examples of Uzun Hava and Kırık Hava , can be learnt by resolution method and can be analyzed.
5   Being able to understand the variaties of the lyrical and musical instrumentals and the important instruments and their orchestral works.
6   To apply practical solutions on how to play our folk melodies on piano and avoiding possible troubles.
7   To apply the knowledge of whole Folk Music on composing studies while advancing research methadologies.

Homeworks consist of theoritical written works of the content of the course itself and encourage students to make research on different resources.
