Week Subject Description
What is Digital Photography : Along with the evolution of digital technology photography techniques have been influenced and transformed into a different technical structure. This development has brought photography from an analog film system and card printing to a digital system that uses only numeric fields
Digital Camera: Format and resolution characteristics of digital cameras affect the quality of printing and photography. In addition, technology when shooting with a digital camera can be changed instantly by using practical features, such as white light balance adjustment and ISO-ASA.
Auxiliary materials used for digital photography: One of the aids that are now used in digital photography is memory cards; their sizes, capacities and transfer rates vary accordingly. As an additional auxiliary equipment it is also possible to list white balance filters, transmission cables, remote controls and wireless transmission devices.
Files formats used in digital photography: The compressed file used in digital photography is JPEG and the raw image is processed using RAW images. These two formats show differences in terms of quality. When a photograph is processed with a computer program, the file is saved as either PSD or TIFF file.
Digital Data Storage: Digital photography data storage, archiving and retention emerge as important issues. A reliable and secure way to store digital data for longer periods of time is a portable and external hard disc rather than a CD or DVD. The computer program BRIDGE also properly allows digital data archiving.
RAW Format Processing: A digital photograph is embedded as a high quality and uncompressed RAW image format, these files are processed using Photoshop. Camera Raw is an extension of the program.
Lightroom program: Lightroom is a simple and basic program used for image processing and archiving.
Application
Capture one program: Preferred by professional photographers, this program allows simultaneous picture capturing and RAW processing.
Photoshop program: Photoshop program contains a multitude of features such as color separation, photograph retouching, framing and manipulation.
Experimental digital photography: It is possible to obtain experimental and creative photography by modifying previously captured photographs with the Photoshop program.
Stop motion: Digital cameras feature a continuous shooting mode and by using this animation technique it is possible to capture stop motion videos. Using 24 frames taken in series per second will create a video with the right editing programme.
HDR: High dynamic range imaging is a method used to create a greater dynamic range with a minimum of three captured exposures of the same frame with different darkness and brightness that are stitched together with a computer program to create a fourth frame.
Panoramic photograph and File formats in digital photography:
