Course Objective

To teach color theory at a basic level, to establish a relationship between form and color.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Decision of the fundamental concept to be applied during the semester, and the announcement of the projects to be made. Examination of similar examples within the concept and the project.
2 Decision of the fundamental concept to be applied during the semester, and the announcement of the projects to be made. Examination of similar examples within the concept and the project.
3 Beginning of work on still life paintings, in black and white. Discussion on how the size of a painting affects the way it's perceived, and presentation of significant examples of this principle.
4 Continuation of work on still life paintings, discussion of color mixing principles and possibilities of the creation of new colors.
5 Continuation of work on still life paintings, experimentation on the effects of various colors on the perception of depth, examination of suitable examples.
6 Continuation of work on still life paintings, examination of the opportunities of creating the illusion of volume and depth by utilizing colors.
7 Decision on a project about interior painting in line with the fundamental concept of the class. Deciding on the compositions and the making of preliminary sketches.
8 Continuation of work on interior paintings, investigation of the conditions in which color creates a sense of depth.
9 Continuation of work on interior paintings, testing of the conditions in which color creates light perspective.
10 Decision on a project about exterior painting in line with the fundamental concept of the class. Deciding on the compositions and the making of preliminary sketches.
11 Continuation of work on exterior paintings, making a detailed work of a natural form and the examination of the possibilities of giving it volume.
12 Continuation of work on exterior paintings, discussion about natural form and its geometric perception.
13 Continuation of work on exterior paintings, completion of the project.
14 Evaluation of the projects.
