Course Objective

This course deals with basic concepts that would be useful in the study, interpretation and criticiszm of artworks throguh various philosophical and critical texts and with the aid of visual materials
Concepts: Symbol, Metaphore, Image, Representation, Expression, Meaning, Creation, Illusion, Imitation, Abstraction, Transformation, Artistic Perception and Intiution

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   the student is expected to become familiar with the essential concepts and differing perspectives of the issues discussed in the international literature
2   develop a critical and and in depth perspective of the issues
3   become knowlegable of the methods and principles of constucting a systematic argument
4   properly differentiate and relate the teoretical (thinking of) and practical (thinking in) aspect of art education.
5   place and understand his or her work within a broader cultural milieu
