Course Objective

Introduction and identification to maneuvering and navigation and troubleshooting of machinery in engine room in respects of safety precautions during watchkeeping.

2 Engine room watchkeeping procedures
3 The starting air system and system equipments of diesel engines
4 Identification of troubleshooting equipment and their use
5 Troubleshooting and maintenance of engine room machinery
6 Troubleshooting and maintenance of engine room machinery
7 Measurement and evaluation of maximum in-cylinder pressure
8 Fuel and lubricating oil pipeline systems and safe bunkering operations
9 Cooling water pipeline system and operation
10 Propulsion system, intermediate and tail shafting system and its operation
11 Fuel system, fuel pump and injectors
12 Operation and maintenance of separators
13 Operation and maintenance of deck machinery
14 Safety precautions during engine room watch

Assessment Criteria

PO - LO matrices were created and the evaluation method was determined for each PO. Students are expected to have an average success rate of 60 or above for each LO. In addition, in the course evaluation surveys, the program outcomes in the course objectives are expected to be 4 or above.
