Course Objective

Augment knowledge about communication and culture and interrogate the place of communication in foreign language teaching.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   learning what the communication is, understanding relation between communication and culture
2   being able to discuss place of cultural elements in foreign language classes.
3   being able to have necessary knowledge about types of communication.
4   Acquiring necessary knowledge about cultural elements in foreign language teaching.
5   being able to discuss the place and the function of different types of communication in language teaching.

1 What s the communication Linguistic communication and example of communication roman jakobson .
2 The types of communication and social structures. Communicative situations and communication support
3 The place of communication in in the formation and transmission of cultural elements
4 The description of cultural elements of society and usage forms of these elements in communication
5 Information and communication, differences and similarities
6 Communication via media (radio, television, newspapers, cartoons, internet)
7 City, architecture and communication, relations between extents and cultural values.
8 Mid-term exam
9 The production and the meaning of text, the cognitive approach
10 Rhetoric of communication
11 What is cultural anthropology, what is the role of the social sciences
12 Cultural anthropology and how it can be used in foreign language teaching
13 Communication in schools. Individual and group communication. Questioning of the functions of group communication in foreign language teaching
14 Foreign language classes to benefit from the media.
