Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine the Ottoman court system within the scope of court types and court personnel and their powers and duties.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to make a general assessment about the Islamic-Ottoman judicial system
2   To be able to count the subjects of the proceedings in Ottoman law
3   To know the qualifications, appointments, duties and powers that kadis should have
4   Summarizing the information sources of kadis
5   To be able to count the assistants of the kadis
6   Knowing the names, duties and powers of the classical period Ottoman courts
7   To be able to count the Ottoman courts within the framework of the developments in the Tanzimat period
