Course Objective

To evaluate the policies of religious educaiton in republican era.
Some plitical discussions that directs these policies and legislations for religious education will be examined.
How the understanding of Laicism especially with the aspect of Religion - State relaiton, effected on religious educaiton policies and practices will be studied.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   They will have general knowledge about the policies and legislations of religious educaiton in Türkiye
2   They understands the discussions that effects on these policies and legislations of religious educaiton.
3   They can analyze the reflections of Laicism principle on religious educaiton.
4   They can make conneciton between these religious education policies with the National Educaiton system.
5   They can understand the place of religious educatio in educational politics in terms of the development of Turkish political history.

1 Policies of religious educaiton in TBMM governments in the treansition period from Ottomans to Republican era.
2 Policies of religious education in the establishing period of the republic: The law of Tavhid-i Tadrisat and its practices.
3 Single party period: Laicism in the establishing and practicing process and religious education policies .
4 Laicism and religious educaiton in CHP programs between 1923-1945.
5 Laicism and religous education discussions in the transition period of multy party democrasy.
6 Laicism and religious educaiton policies in Demokrat Party and Adnan Menderes governments programs.
7 Laicism and religious educaiton in 1961 Constitution and 27 May 1960 coup.
8 Mid-term Exam
9 Laicism and religious educaiton policies in Suleyman Demirel governments programs.
10 Laicism and religious educaiton policies in the governments programs that established during the 12 March 1971 momerandum.
11 12 September 1980 Military Coup; and laicism and religious education in 1982 Constitiution.
12 Laicism and religious educaiton policies in the priod of Turgut Ozal governments.
13 Laicism and religious educaiton in Necmettin Erbakan governments programs.
