Course Objective

To bring to the students a sophisticated perspective of macroeconomics by putting out the relationships and interactions between different macroeconomic models (aggregate expenditure-aggregate income, IS-LM, AD-AS) by qualitative and quantitative analyses.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to analyse selected macroeconomic topics in the general equilibrium settings
2   To be able to learn quantitative techniques in order to analyse selected macroeconomic topics in the general equilibrium settings
3   To be able to comprehend macroeconomic models as well as the causality between the variables in those models
4   To be able to learn dynamic analysis the relationships between aggregate demand-aggregate supply, and product-price level
5   To be able to learn the approaches about the unemployment, and its linkage to inflation

1 Introduction to macroeconomic models and their properties
2 Macroeocomic models in the general equilibrium settings
3 Aggregate Expenditure (AE)-Aggregate Income (Y) model and its interpretation
4 The link between money supply and money demand, and IS-LM model when the money supply is constant
5 The link between money supply and money demand, and IS-LM model when the money demand is constant
6 Analysis of relationship and interaction between Aggregate Expenditure (AE)-Aggregate Income (Y) model and IS-LM model
7 The link between Aggregate Expenditure (AE)-Aggregate Income (Y) model and IS-LM model when the interest rates do not change (Midterm exam will also be held this week after course hour)
8 Analysis of the link between Aggregate Expenditure (AE)-Aggregate Income (Y) model and IS-LM model when the interest rates do not change

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, macroeconomic models will be analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively, so the needed toolbox will be handled theoretical and mathematical ways.
