Course Objective

This course aims to improve both the communication skills of students in daily life and professional skills with a correct and healthy voice.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To know the importance of vocal education and vocal health in the art of verbal expression
2   Knowing what common speech mistakes are.
3   Knowing and applying the basic processes voice anatomy and formaation of voice and healthy, correct and beautiful voice production
4   Evaluating and applying the importance of correct pronunciation and articulation
5   Knowing what are the main flaws in speaking and how to fix them
6   Knowing and applying basics studies to improve the art of verbal expression
7   Applying the acquired knowledge and skills on reading text and through presentations

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 The purpose and importance of vocal education studies in the art of verbal expression and the importance of the vocal health
2 Examination of comman speech faults
3 Examination of the anatomy of the voice and its formation and the organs involved in the formation of the voice. Mental-physical comfort and correct and balanced body posture execises.
4 The importance of breathing and respiratory studies. Establishing the voice-breath connection and giving volume, height and timbre features to the voice
5 Studying of vocal (vowel) and consonants and singing them in correct positions
6 Pronunciation and articulation studies for examining words and saying them correctly
7 Studies on looseness in speech skipping, changing and stiffness and access
8 Midterm exam
9 Intonation exercises in speech
10 Speed exercises in speech
11 Exercises on short, medium and long pauses in speaking
12 Strengthening studies on nursery rhymes, poems and reading texts
13 Repeating what has been learned on reading texts and presentations prepared individually
14 Repeating what has been learned on reading texts and presentations prepared individually and evaluating students' each other
15 Final Exam
