Course Objective

Recognising school and school management, understanding the function of management processes in the school, developing a perspective towards the human relations in the school management.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Recognising the education system in general.
2   2. Recognising the school as an organization and understanding its place in the education system.
3   3. Acquiring knowledge about the dimensions of the school as an organization.
4   4. Understanding the function of management processes in school.
5   5. Being able to evaluate the characteristics that school administrators have to obtain.
6   6. Acquiring the legal knowledge that school administrators have to follow.
7   7. Understanding the duties, authority and responsibilities of school administrators.
8   8. Understanding the importance of human relations in school administration.

3 The dimensions of the school as an organization (purpose, structure, process, and climate)
4 The characteristics that school administrators should acquire.
5 Decision-making processes in the school management.
6 Communication processes and effects in the School.
7 Administrator-staff relationships and meetings, boards, commissions in the school.
8 Mid-term exam
9 Cliques, conflicts, groups and conflict resolution in the school.
10 The rights of the child and the binding legal rules of school administration.
11 The authority, roles and responsibilities of school administrators.
12 Skills of human relations that school administrators have to obtain
13 Time management in the school.
14 Characteristics of effective schools.
