Course Objective

To make ethical consciousness; about classical problems of moral philosophy (ethics); thus, to make students develop ethical approach and ability to criticise the events, and issues ethically

1   Student, at the end of the semester, will know classical ethics theories
2   They will be able to evaluate the life ethically
3   They will get information about moral philosophers in classical period
4   They will see some classical period s problems in ethics
5   They will get information about some solutions about these problems

1 A problematic look at the course and methodological issues.
2 Some criteria about ethical evaluation.
3 Free will, action-will-choice relation.
4 The term good , its definition, classification, and related problems.
5 The term virtue , its definition, classification, and related problems.
6 Virtues of character; generosity, splendour, magnanimous.
7 Some issues related to the virtue of justice.
8 Mid-term Exam
9 Main features of the virtue of justice.
10 The virtue of mind and minds nature.
11 Ethical problems about self-control.
12 Friendship; its definition, its relation with love, and functions in ethics.
13 The relation between happiness and pleasure.
14 The relation between morality and metaphysics (metaphysical ethics and ethical metaphysics.)

Farabi, Mutluluğun Kazanılması, Fusulul Medeni, Tenbih, Medinetü'l-Fazıla;
Kant, Ahlak Metafiziği;
