Course Objective

The aim of this course is to evaluate the developments in the field of constitutional law in the Ottoman Empire in terms of constitutional documents and constitutions in the Turkish constitutional history.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To know and evaluate the general characteristics of Islamic-Ottoman public law
2   To know the first constitutional developments as a constitutional document in the Ottoman Empire
3   To have information about the historical background, construction process and features of Sened-i Ittifak
4   To have information about the historical background, the process and features of the Tanzimat Edict
5   To have information about the historical background, the process and features of the Islahat Edict
6   Historical background of Kanun-i Esasi dated 1876
7   The process of making the Kanun-i Esasi dated 1876
8   General characteristics of Kanun-i Esasi dated 1876 in terms of legislative-executive-judicial organs and fundamental rights and freedoms
