Course Objective

To represent environmental problems, to increase the awareness and sensitiveness on these problems, to present political instruments and solutions for these problems. To aim the efficient attendance of the students.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to explain main concepts about the environmental economics
2   To be able to analyse the environmental problems, actors, principles and aims of environmental policies and develop solutions for the environmental problems
3   To be able to make observations and researches in a working group, to determine the environmental problems in the places where they can reach or live, and to improve the capability of implementing new solution
4   To be able to provide the support of the relevant decision making units to the projects which have been prepared to solve the predetermined environmental problems.
5   To be able to analyse the economic and social effects of environmental pollution
6   To be able to understand that both environmental problems and the solutions to these problems represent multi-dimensional and closely integrated systems

2 Renewable and non-renewable natural resources and environmental pollution. The increasing importance of the renewable energy resources
3 The main natural resources in Türkiye and all over the world and projections for the future
4 Air pollution and its environmental consequences
5 Water pollution and its environmental consequences, water economics
6 Earth pollution and its environmental consequences Erosion and its environmental consequences
7 Noise nuisance and its environmental consequences
8 Environmental pollution created by solid waste, waste management Dangerous poisonous wastes and their importance Environmental impact assessment
9 Global warming Climate and ecosystem change
10 Midterm exam
11 Nuclear energy and its environmental consequences Hydro-electric energy and its environmental consequences

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The lecture is given by the lecturer through ppt presentations enriched by relevant printed sources. In addition to that, students are expected to make discussion groups so as to conduct observations, applied studies, and projects concerning the selected research topics
