Course Objective

The aim of this course is to classify personal protective equipment and clothing, to explain category of risk groups, to give detailed information in general groups of chemical, heat-flame, mechanical and environmental protection and to explain the imoprtance of using them.

1   To learn definition of personal protective clothing and equipment (PPE)
2   To learn groups of risk categories of PPE
3   To learn the importance of usage of PPE
4   To have information about protective clothing classes in work places

4 Categorization of protective equipment with respect to place of use and level of risk.
5 Protective clothing against heat and flame Structures of thermal protective clothing Protective clothing against sputtering molten metals Relevant occupations and standarts
6 Chemical protective clothing Structures of chemical protective clothing Chemical treatments applied to textiles Relevant occupations and standarts

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, previous researches in the related literature are discussed and class presentations are performed by the students. The students will be responsible for term project presentaiton about designing a protective textile.
