Course Objective

The objective of the course is to identify the physical factors (noise, lighting, thermal comfort, pressure etc.) at work places that would be harmful to worker health, the effects of these factors on human body and protection means againts the harmful effects of physical factors.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Recognize the physical risk factors that may be encountered in the workplace and to understand the features and mechanisms.
2   To reveal the physical factors that negatively affect the health of office workers
3   Physical risk factors encountered in the environment of the workplace and methods of measurement for people to grasp and apply
4   The ways of protection from physical risk factors and understanding equipment usage.
5   Grasp and apply national and international level allowable event values of physical risk factors and legal regulations.

1 Work safety and physical risk factors notions.
2 Identification of risk factors and types
3 Noise concepts, effects and prevention
4 The concept of vibration, impact and prevention
5 Examples of noise and vibration concepts and regulations
6 Thermal comfort, humidity and ventilation
7 Evaluation of homework topics, mutual case discussions
8 Heat, effective temperature, lighting types and criteria
9 The concept of enlightenment, definitions and legal restrictions
10 The concept of radiation and radiation protection methods
11 The concept of pressure, and prevention of possible damages
12 The concept of electromagnetic wave, laws and regulations related to radiation and pressure concepts
13 Evaluation of homework topics, mutual case discussions
14 Occupational diseases caused by physical conditions and ways of protection
