Course Objective

To understand the molecular mechanisms of the epithelial mesenchymal transition process, its role in normal and disease processes, its effects on tumor progression and to interpret research methods by following the developments in the field.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To evaluate epithelial mesenchymal transition in normal and disease processes.
2   To have information about the role of epithelial mesenchymal transition in metastasis
3   Familiarity with experimental approaches used to study epithelial mesenchymal transition
4   To critically evaluate the design and results of scientific literature on epithelial mesenchymal transition.
5   To be able to independently write and present critiques of scientific articles on epithelial mesenchymal transition

Students will be evaluated with midterm essay discussion studies, mid-term homework and end-of-semester project.
