Course Objective

The basic principles of industrial biotechnology, microbial applications, enzyme technology, bio fuel production, single cell protein, medicine, environment, agro-forestry, food industries, applications, security and ethical issues in biotechnology will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Awake of basic principles of industrial biotechnology,
2   Awake of basic principles of microbial applications and discuss,
3   Have knowledge about enzyme technology, biologic fuel production and discuss,
4   Have knowledge about applications of industrial biotechnology in the areas of environment, agriculture, forestry, food and discuss,
5   Have knowledge about protection of biotechnological discoveries, biosafety and ethic and produce an idea.

Assessment Criteria

Meaningful learning of the basic concepts given in presentations, association of concepts with each other, establishing the cause-result relationships and making comments by using the information available for problems and evaluating idea generation are carried out with mid-term, final and resit exams, homework and presentations.
