Course Objective

The aims of this lecture are to give information about the definition and vectors of exotic species, their economic, ecologic and social effects, the relationship between the vectors and global warming, and the current status of exotic species along the Turkish coasts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understand the general characteristics of exotic species
2   Be able to learn factors that play a role in the introduction of exotic species
3   Be able to understand factors for the establishment success of exotic species in a new ecosystem
4   Inform about the diversity and distribution of exotic species along the Turkish coasts
5   Interpret the impacts of global warming on the introduction of exotic species
6   Define the effects of exotic species on the ecosystem
7   Be able to discuss the economic, ecologic and social effects of exotic species
8   Be able to understand the methods of control and eradication processes of exotic species
