Machine Theory and Dynamics (English) |
Course Objective |
Fundamentals of vibration based on dynamical principles with applications serving to illustrate theory will be examined. To represent different types of systems exhibiting dissimilar dynamical characteristics, discrete and continuous systems will be described by ordinary differential and partial differential equations, respectively. Exact solution for the vibration of continuous systems can be obtained mostly in special cases; only a limited number of continuous systems will be discussed, such as strings in transverse vibration rods in axial vibration, shafts in torsion and bars in bending. |
