Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to provide the necessary concepts on geosynthetics in terms of geotextiles, geogrids, geonets, geomembranes, geosynthetic clay liners, geofoam and geocomposites. Thus, the course will be initiated with the basic description of geosynthetics. Then, their beneficial use in Geotechnical Engineering will be held based on their design purposes.

3   Compare gesynthetics based on their properties
4   Categorize the geosynthetic types against engineering problems

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Courses will be held in class (3h). The course will be done by presentations. The necessary and important parts of presentations will be deleted. These deleted presentations and other supplementary documents will be sent to students prior to course. Students should take a printout of these notes before coming to class. Then, course notes, which include important parts, will be presented in the class. At the same time, students can complete blank parts of the presentation on their notes while listening.
