Course Objective

The course is aimed to investigate the most appropriate methods and principles to use in restoration samples.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To give the students a sound basis about restoration methods and principles.
2   To provide the skill to choose the most appropriate method for restoration.
3   Ability to interpret international regulations and opinions of famous restorators.
4   Ability to discuss protection laws and decisions on principles.
5   Making research about restoration and ability to communicate this in visual, written and oral form.

1 Introduction to the course, aim, method and contents of the course.
2 The principles of restoration. Current concepts related to restoration.
3 The methods of restoration.
4 International regulations.
5 Results obtained from previous restorations.
6 Results obtained from previous restorations.
7 How to select the most appropriate method for restoring a monument, an historical building.
8 The methods of restoring and presentation of a historical architectural "ensemble".
9 Mid-term examination
