Course Objective

This course is the second stage and continuation of ARC 5121. Its purpose is to handle an architectural subject with an interdiciplinary perspective with scientific research approaches and present them both literally and orally.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to be able to identify the basic stages of an architectural research
2   to be able to construct the basic stages of an architectural research for his/her own research.
3   to be able to make a research about an architectural subject.
4   to be able to present his/her research both orally and visually by giving a seminar.
5   to be able to present his/her research both orally and visually by giving a seminar.

Recomended or Required Reading

No specific textbook. Referred sources include multiple publications relating to research methods in general and specifically in architecture.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In the beginning, instructors make presentations about scientific research design and research methods. After the lectures were completed, the students present their research proposals and all course attendants discuss the proposals. During their research process, the students give seminars and they give their research reports in article format at the end of the semester.
