Course Objective

Water analysis has a great importance in medical biotechnological and industrial applications. In this course basic approaches regarding water analysis will be reviewed and the ion chromotography approach will be investigated in detail. At the end of the course, the students are expected to gain the ability of choosing the appropriate analysis method considering the sample.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understanding of basic parameters checked in water analysis. Choise of appropriate basic and alternative methods for the analyte of interest.
2   Students are expected to compare the methods in terms of cost, limit of detection, sensitivity and advantages and disadvantages over each other.
3   Students are expected to know theoritical basis of ion chromatography approach.
4   Students are expected to know the instrument into detail.
5   Students are expected to choose the appropriate method, regarding pretreatments, interpretation of outputs and writing a report.
