Course Objective

The class aims to learn the origin of the natural pollutants and behaviour of the synthetic pollutants produced by using the natural sources particularly heavy metals.

3   It can interpret the heavy metal behaviour

1 An overlook to the geochemical environments
2 Fundamentals of aqueous geochemistry
3 Behaviour of the elements and other materials in geochemical and rock cycle
4 Natural processes (emission of gases with volcanic activity, weathering of rocks, transportation of rocks and distribution of chemical materials to the environment)
5 The heavy metals
6 Pollution of the soil
7 The effect of the energy resources to the environment
8 Pollution formed by the mining activities
9 Asid mine waters
10 Wastes of the treatment pools and their heavy metal contents
11 What are the toxic materials that should be taken under control after the natural hazards
12 Geological facts in the environmental health
13 The sources of heavy metals in agricultural soil
14 The effect of the nuclear wastes to the weathering of rocks
