Course Objective

to teach to postgraduate students the allochemcal and orthochemical components of the carbonate rocks and their detailed microscopic petrographical and diagenetic properties of them.
to relate the carbonate depositional environments with the rock types and porosity.
to examine the economic importance of the carbonate rocks.

1	able to define allochemical and orthochemical components of the carbonate rocks
2	able to clasify the carbonate rocks under the microscope
3	able to relate the carbonate rock type with the depositional environment
4	able to determine a carbonate rock
5	able to map lithofaciess of the carbonate rocks
6	able to correlate the carbonate sequences
7	able to construct the lithostratigraphcal sequences in carbonate rocks
8	able to use the charatcteristics of the carbonate rocks to solve the geological problems

1	methods on studying in carbonate rocks
2	carbonate minerals-calcite, high- and low-Mg calcite, aragonite, dolomite and other carbonate minerals
3	elemts of carbonate textures: micrite, spary clacite, calcilitite, calcilutite, calcarenite, calcirudite, intraclast, bioclast, ooid, oncoid, pellet, pisolit and aggregate grain
4	bioclasts and their definition under microscope
5	carbonate diagenesis and orthogenesis
6	metamorphic processes, compaction and pressure solution, stilolites, calcite veins
7	midter axam. 1
8	carbonate structutures: flow structures, lineation and imbrication, geopetal structure, lamination, stromotactis, nodules, bioturbation, fissure-f,lls (neptunian dykes)
9	classification of carbonate rocks
10	depositional environments and systems of carbonate rocks
11	standart types of carbonate microfaciess
12	digeneticel controls and porosiy in carbonates
13	silisification and dolomitization, dolomitic carbonates, formation of dolomites and depositional environmets of them.
