Course Objective

The development of waterfront areas is often a complex process involving a large number of interested individuals and organizations. Designing of waterfront areas is an integral part of the development process. The aim of this course is to study urban waterfront areas in urban design context and to discuss design principles of them.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, students, will be able to define the characteristics and features of urban waterfront areas,
2   will be able to list user groups and their needs on waterfront areas,
3   will be able to describe the design principles of urban waterfronts,
4   will be able to interprete the principles to practice,
5   will be able to analyze the success of the practice.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

This course will be given through lectures. Students will learn topics by attending and active listening the lectures. Homeworks will be given to students in 7th Week and they will be asked to prepare their homeworks on the subjects given to them.
