Course Objective

The concept of color is critically important for all levels of the textile industry. Color fixing is one of the most important steps of dying and printing processes in coloring textiles. The process is needed to be implented by an expert to carry out successfully. In this course, how the human eye sees the color, warm and cold colors, color harmonies and color blends will be explained. This course includes the determination of the colors which a coloured sample consists, the types of colour measurement systems with software and commentary of remission, K/S values and related graphs. It will also be explained that color differences between two colors by examination of color formulas. In addition, metameri indexes, whiteness and yellowness degrees, fastness controls, pass or fail tolerances will be explained. Furthermore, preparation of color receipt by using spectral photometer to obtain the exact color in very short time will be explained. Student will be responsible for homeworks about colors and sevearl publication will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To define the color, color harmonies and color circle.
2   To relate the color and color measurement systems.
3   Calculate the dyeing recipes.
4   Compare the whiteness indexes.
5   Calculate the metamerism, yellowness indexes and tristimulus values.
6   Infer and discuss the color values.
7   Define and compare the light sources.
