Course Objective |
The aim of this course is to introduce the graduate students polymeric biomaterials who might use them in designing their researchs or projects. This course consists of four main parts: The types of polymers used for medical purposes and modification of polymers to increase their biocompatibility are covered in the first part. The applications of the two major groups of biomaterials, natural and synthetic biomaterials, are also discussed. Part II deals with utilization of polymeric biomaterials in tissue engineering, wound healing and drup delivery systems. Also, thermal, chemical and biological characterizations are covered in the third part. As the last part, the interaction of polymeric biomaterials with the environment is discussed. Finally, each student are asked to give two seminars on the covered subjects from the recent papers in the literature and their evaluations affect the success of the student. |
