Course Objective

The aim of this course is to outline the steps of a mining project in general. Provision of necessary data from geological and geotechnical studies, determination of orebody characteristics, production planning and cost analysis are briefly described. Description of the steps of a mining project in general. Starting from creating ore body modelling, establishing the mineral inventory, the lecture goes through the reserve calculation methods in detail. The evaluation of mining feasibility project will be given.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   This course is expected to gain technical knowledge to do ore body modelling and establish mineral inventory
2   To develop information to achieve cost calculations of a mine project including investment period
3   To be able to understand the basics of profitability concept of a project
4   To gain ability to use operational research techniques in mine projects
5   To give the students an ability to present written report on mine projects.
