Course Objective

Learn how to plan and pursue a site investigation study and be able to conduct foundation analyses using idealized geotechnical profile and superstructure information.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1	Plan site investigation study based on local geology information and supersturcture characteristics.
2	Decide the foundation type that best fits to the need of the structure and soil characteristics.
3	Learn to conduct settlement analysis using advanced methods of stress distribution.
4	Perform site response analysis to obtain design level accelaration spectrum.
5	Pursue advanced foundation analysis considering inertial and kinematic loads.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Students are introduced with geotechnical methods and techniques that are necessary to overcome real life foundation design challenges. The undergraduate level knowledge is enhanced by more comlicated foundation analysis and design methods. Software that are used for spread and deep foundation design are taught to the students.
