Course Objective

In this course, physical, chemical properties of boron and silicon elements, their important compounds in industrial applications and the technologies of these elements will be investigated and taught in details.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to be able to explain the physical and chemical properties of boron and silicon elements
2   to be able to learn the importance of boron and its derivatives
3   to be able to know silicon chemistry, Siilcon compounds (Silicon-Oxygen) (Silicon-Hydrogen) (Silicon-Halogen)
4   to be able to know the preparation of boron compounds and their usages in industry
5   to be able to learn the silicon compounds and their usages

7 Characterization of new boron compounds
8 Silicon- Halogen Compounds

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Fourteen, three-hour lectures backed up with one midterm examination and one workshop and interactive presentations. All the didactic material is preliminary available to the student both in paper and electronic form. The books used to prepare the lectures are available at the Library of the University. Further data and/or information may be obtained consulting the Library of the University also using the new wireless network.
