Course Objective

The course will focus on the following topics: Mammals of Turkey, and their evolution patterns. How their recent distribution patterns shaped will be explained by giving known and studied examples. The possible conservation strategies will be discussed during the class.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The general aim is that the student after the course should have advanced knowledge within ecology and conservation genetics to a large extent be able to use them in nature conservation applications for mammals. On completion of the course, the student should be able to: Learn mammal fauna Discuss on phylogenetic and phylogeography identify and in a structured way discuss ethical issues related to conservation biology.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course is taught in a lecture, class presentation and discussion format. All class members are expected to attend and both the lecture and take part in the discussion sessions. Besides the taught lecture, group presentations are to be prepared by the groups assigned for that week and presented to open a discussion session.
