Course Objective

This course aims to teach about the immune system and its cells, important genes in the immune system, and the formation mechanisms and functional properties of these genes.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   learn about immune system cells and compares them with each other.
2   know the mechanisms of action of the immune system against self and non-self.
3   learn the developmental processes of T and B cells and the mechanisms of action of cellular and humoral immunity.
4   have information about MHC genes by understanding the molecular structure of MHC, which is important in tissue and organ transplantation.
5   learn and interpret the regulation mechanisms of genes in immunoglobulin and T cell receptors.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course is taught in a lecture, class presentation, and discussion format. All class members are expected to attend the lecture and participate in the discussion sessions. Besides the course, group presentations are to be prepared by the groups assigned for that week and presented to open a discussion session.
