Course Objective

To teach the simulation technics before radiation delivery by using different simulators including classical and CT simulators and technics.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Informs patients before simulation and prepare patient charts.
2   Gets and makes planning accessories (masks, bolus)
3   Prepares the simulators for simulations
4   Makes simulations with ideal treatment positions
5   Takes X-ray or CT scans
6   Transmits the images to TPS

1 Introduction to simulation technics
2 Basic principles of radiotherapy, objectives and methods
3 Different types of simulation and simulators
4 Basic treatment positions and technics
5 Multiple fiedls and junction problems
6 Accessories used in treatment planning and during radiotherapy
7 Immobilisation technics, set-up and treatment planning algorithms
8 Brachytherapy
9 Simulation of CNS, and head and neck cancers
10 Simulation of thoracic malignencies
11 Simulation of GIS, GUS, bone and soft tissue sarcomas
12 Simulation of pediatric tumors, special RT technics and palliative radiotherapy
