Course Objective

Main objectives of this course can be summarized as follows:
To develop a comprehensive understanding of Building Information Modeling (BIM) principles, concepts, and workflows.
To gain proficiency in using ArchiCAD as a BIM tool for architectural design and documentation.
To explore the benefits and applications of BIM in the construction industry.
To understand the collaborative aspects of BIM and learn how to effectively communicate and coordinate with project stakeholders.
To develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in BIM-based design and analysis.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures: Lectures to introduce and explain key concepts, principles, and workflows related to Building Information Modeling (BIM) and ArchiCAD.
In-Class Assignments: In-class assignments that allow students to apply their knowledge of BIM and ArchiCAD in real-time. These assignments involve modeling specific architectural elements, creating documentation drawings, or solving design challenges using ArchiCAD s features.
Hands-On Exercises: Hands-on exercises where students can actively work with ArchiCAD and practice BIM modeling techniques.

Assessment Criteria

Students will develop a design project using BIM techniques throughout the semester. They will present a 3D model in the midterm exam and submit the entire BIM layout in the final exam.
