Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to evaluate and analyze the concepts of context and natural environment from multidimensional views; and to develop design solutions for a theme structured around the framework of production of the context.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to define the concepts of natural environment, place, context and program.
2   Define the spatial counterparts of the fundamental requirements of natural environment and program
3   Determination of the fundamental design requirements such as environmental analysis, production of the context, specification of the program and settling on the land within the framework of the given design problems.
4   Focus on the design priorities around a main architectural concept.
5   Ability to express the developing architectural ideas with the instruments of design such as the mass composition, open/semi-open/closed spatial organization, architectural style and the components of the building via graphical, written, and oral presentations

Evaluation will be made within the framework of;
Ability to analyze and interpret the given context in multiple ways
Investigating the architectural design problem in a versatile way
Being able to develop and design a medium complexity architectural program requirement and its spatial counterparts within the framework of a main idea with original and comprehensive solutions
To provide the conceptual depth, clarity and continuity of the main idea throughout the process
Criteria to express the project process in a qualified way in visual, written and verbal environments
