Course Objective

The housing culture of Anatolia has been shaped by different factors such as geographical inputs, social expectations, knowledge and experiences of ancient civilizations. In this framework, this course concentrates on the conceptual, spatial and visual formation of the traditional Anatolian house besides the social and environmental factors shaping the main architectural characters of different regions. In this context, the main principles that shape the traditional architecture of Anatolian houses are to be defined and the effects of the environmental, social and cultural inputs are to be questioned.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Defining the evaluation process of the housing culture of Anatolia.
2   Explaining the principles of traditional settlements.
3   Questioning the effects of cultural factors and local identities on the evaluation of the housing culture.
4   Defining the main principles of traditional architecture of Anatolian houses.
5   Questioning the architectural and urban characters of different regions.
