Course Objective

The objective of this course is to give the students an idea about job selection areas and to be a guide as a city planner candidate; to enable students to learn their duties and responsibilities as an urban planner in an office and / or a planning institution and to benefit from their professional experiences and knowledges with future colleagues.

1   To learn the concerned/authorised institutions in city planning
2   To list the duties and responsibilities of concerned/authorised institutions in the field of city planning
3   To interpret the information obtained from the institution with which they work
4   To perceive the functioning and importance of these institutions in the field of city planning
5   To related the interrelations of the institutions.
6   To evaluate the importance of works conducted prior to, during and after planning

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Learning the duties and responsibilities of the institutions where they work and examining the ongoing works
2 Taking part in the ongoing works of the institution as a candidate city planner
3 Participating in the planning studies either in the field or on the map sheet when deemed necessary by the institution and/or compiling the data (questionnaire documents on literature, institutional and social structure, trade, tourism, industry, health, religious facilities, training facilities etc.) collected in relation to the working area
4 Completion and reporting of all works and delivery of the necessary documents

Recomended or Required Reading

During the internship, the resources recommended by the institution, professional laws and regulations, articles, journals, books, etc. related to planning.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course has the method of participation in field studies in the field of planning, if necessary, by the office work carried out as an urban planner candidate in a related public authority or a private office.
