Course Objective

To learn the structures, classification and mechanisms of textile auxiliary agents

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn the impotance, classification and difficulties in classification of textile auxiliary agents that are used in textile finishing treatments
2   To learn structure of surface active agents
3   To learn the structures, usage as textile auxiliary agents and mechanisms of the surface active agents
4   To learn structure and mechanisms auxiliary agents other than surface active agents (i.e. pH buffers etc.)
5   To gain awareness usage of auxiliary agents, learning the effects of their structure and mechanisms on environment

3 Introduction, chemical structure and properties of surface active agents (anionic SAA)
4 Chemical structure and properties of surface active agents (cationic, amphoteric, nonionic SAA)
5 Electrolytes and pH control
6 Sequestering agents
7 Dispersing agents
8 fixing agents
9 Levelling and retarding agents
10 Migration inhibitors
11 Foamers and defoaming agents
12 UV absorbers, stabilizing agents
13 thickeners
