Course Objective

Lecture aims understanding of the relationship between seismology and tectonic, and the assessment of seismic hazard

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to perform the importance of earthquake for tectonic studies.
2   To be able to interpret fault types, elongations, earthquake and source parameters to elucidate seismic hazard.
3   To be able to analyse seismotectonic maps and focal mechanisms solutions.
4   To be able to evaluate seismic hazard and risk studies together with earthquake forecasting.
5   To be able to link principal seismotectonic features of Türkiye with focal mechanisms and stress tensors.
6   To be able to link GPS deformation velocities of Türkiye and Eastern Mediterranean basin with fault types and focal mechanisms solutions.
