Course Objective

Acquire an understanding of the bond relationship between concrete and steel in reinforced concrete structures; investigate failure mechanisms and bond stress by bond experiments; learn proper anchorage techniques for bond

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Grasp the importance of bond between concrete and steel in reinforced concrete structures
2   Be able to compute bond stress.
3   Learn about bond experiments and preparation of the experiment samples.
4   Learn the failure mechanisms caused by insufficient bond in reinforced concrete sections.
5   Acquire an understanding of the importance of proper anchorage for bond.
