Course Objective

Giving basic information about the design of steel structures, implementing the design steps on a term project are intented in the course scope. The recognition of necessary design steps and dimensioning procedures in details of steel structural members and their connections are aimed. Step by step investigation of design procedures for dimensioning various steel structural members are planned.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Sorting out the necessary datas and the procedures for design of steel structures
2   Defining the loads applied on steel structural members and their application to the project
3   Dimensioning and design of steel structural elements
4   Combinations used in steel structures and application according to the type of joint
5   Reporting the calculation results of steel structural members
6   Producing the drawing sheets by taking design results of steel structural members and their connections into account
