Course Objective

In the course, the linearly elastic structures are idealized with a single-degree-of-freedom (SDF) and multi-degree-of-freedom (MDF) systems. Dynamic response and internal forces of these structures subjected to dynamic load are obtained.
A primary aim of the course is to give students the solution methods for dynamic behaviour of the structures.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To determine the structural behavior of the structural system under dynamic external loads
2   To select the displacement and internal forces of the structural systems exposed to dynamic loads for design
3   To compare earthquake regulations
4   Designing earthquake resistant structure
5   To explain modal analysis with examples
6   To explain the dynamic analysis in time history methodology with examples
